This seems like it is not directly related to a Reading Mode and other solutions exist already as mentioned. IMO it would be better to concentrate on making Reading Mode really good, since it can be just used on top of other solutions. I worry if Unclutter becomes a collection of multiple things then nothing ends up really well. "Focus on one thing and do it well."

Maybe an integration of 12ft.io could work?
